Uno  has become something of an odd hit amongst gamers. Instead of sitting around a table with an actual deck of Uno cards, players have instead been saddling up to Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, and iPhones to play Gameloft’s smart, clean digital recreation. Now, the PSP joins the Uno clan, offering four-player Uno matches against computer-controlled opponents or real folks via local WiFi or over PSN.

Gameloft  did not mess around with the formula at all for PSP – and for good reason. Playing its version of Uno is simple, breezy, and makes immediate sense. As you go around the table, you watch the action in the middle of the screen and then slap down whatever card you can or draw from the deck. Challenging draw-four color change cards or virtually hollering Uno is handled by tapping face buttons. There really is no way to complain about the general set-up without picking the smallest of nits.

As with other versions, you can set up your own rules, point thresholds, and the intelligence of your virtual opponents. The easiest difficulty is a cakewalk, while hard difficulty imbues the AI with physic powers. (“Oh, did you have just one blue card left? Blammo – here’s a draw four and we’re changing the color to green! Suck on that, meat popsicle.”) Normal difficulty finds a good balance between these extremes, but there is no comparison to playing against other people over PSN. Getting into the lobby and finding a game takes very little work, but it may take some time as the newly released Uno is not as freakishly popular over on PSP as it is on XBLA.

Uno for the PSP is another fine port of the classic series thanks to Gameloft’s clean recreation of the card game. The colorful display is easy to read and manipulating your cards is simple. Setting up online games is easy. You can’t, which is all the justification this download needs.

LittleBigPlanet PSP Go Game Review – Download LittleBigPlanet For Free!

The original Little Big Planet  on the PlayStation 3 boasted so many novel ideas that even though this new PSP game has made some concessions, it’s still a great game. Sony’s Cambridge Studio has managed to re-create the gameplay of the Media Molecule-developed original, while crafting its own great Story mode and making some gameplay tweaks as well. Some of the key tenets of the PS3 game have been removed, including multiplayer, the ability to manipulate Sackboy’s arms and hips, and some of the more advanced sharing features. Given the limitations of the PSP hardware though, the game does a good job of translating most of the key features of the original and should please fans of the series and newcomers alike.

Little Big Planet is a beautiful-looking game, from both a technical and an artistic perspective. The game has a charming handcrafted look that’s highly customisable, the physics system is integral to the gameplay, and there’s rarely any slowdown, even during intense action. Slowdown can be a problem in user-generated content, but only when the creator packs a lot into a small space. Stephen Fry returns for voice-over duty, and his playful but eloquent delivery works perfectly. The soundtrack is also impressive, and while the music is less instantly recognisable, it follows the same cheery, upbeat tone as before, to excellent effect.

Little Big Planet brings the core gameplay of the PS3 game to the PSP with a few concessions, most notably multiplayer, but it retains the spirit that made the original so compelling. Tekken 6 Psp Download – Tekken 6 Psp Review

The idea of a Tekken 6 PSP port seemed uninteresting at first, but when word got out that it’d be very similar to the home console versions, I had to check it out. Fighting games do often wind up very well suited to a portable system, as the quick bouts and short-attention-span action are perfect for when you’re spending fifteen minutes waiting at a doctor’s office or in a parking lot.

So I decided to simply skip reviewing Tekken 6 on consoles and go straight for the PSP version. And after playing both flavors of the game, I’m impressed with how closely they kept this portable to the original, but I’m also disappointed with the direction Tekken has gone in over the years.

To get myself ready for the upcoming release, I went back and played a little Tekken: Dark Resurrection on the PSP a few weeks ago. Its fantastic visuals, snappy controls, and solid fighting engine made it one of my favorite portable games of recent years, and it really did prove that you could put a 3D fighting game on PSP with very little in the way of compromise. Booting up Tekken 6, I was immediately impressed by the game’s roster of 40 characters, but I had kind of forgotten that many of the fighters have gotten really strange over the years; almost a quarter of the playable characters are ridiculous creatures that I have always found to be out of place. There’s a mother-and-son kangaroo duo, a green panda with glowing manacles, a woman made out of tree parts (complete with wooden breasts), a cyborg with poor proportions, and yes, a straight-up brown bear. Tekken 6 indulges in some really crazy character designs that, to me, hurts the overall presentation and saps some of the fun factor.

It’s not that these characters weren’t in Dark Resurrection, but back then I was so busy wrapping my brain around the idea that a PSP fighting game could actually be really good that I apparently didn’t notice just how whacked out this game’s characters are. Now that I’m used to Tekken being one of the best PSP franchises, I’m finding it easier to see where the series has gone wrong.

First: the difficulty. On any given difficulty setting, Arcade mode starts off way too easy and ends up way too difficult, with a ridiculously huge boss that the game’s fighting engine can’t even handle properly. Luckily, you never have to fight him in the superior Ghost mode, which is the replacement for the old Dojo system. Here, you fight in a virtual arcade against different “players”, complete with their own little nicknames, who have favorite characters, unique styles, and a myriad of skill levels. As you go up in the ranks by beating them, you’ll come across tougher AI opponents, but after each win you’ll get to choose between three opponents so that you can still tailor the difficulty to your liking. If you’re feeling confident and want to rise up the ranks fast, you can start fighting people two or three levels above you, but for a more gradual increase in difficulty, fight people close to your level.
