Though to be honest, unless you want to be on official firmware and locked out of homebrew software for the foreseeable future, or there are features on the PSP3000 you really want, then perhaps a used PSP1000 or early 2000 would be better, those are able to be modded unlike the newer PSP2000 and PSP3000
my PSP acquisition was quite recent, and I was fortunate enough to get a PSP1000 and have no regrets (not to mention the money saving by getting an older console.) I am currently on firmware 5.00 M33-4 and have had no problems whatsoever.
